Whale Watching in Samaná: What You Need to Know

Samaná Bay is one of the best places in the world to watch humpback whales, with peak season running January through mid-March when an estimated 2,000+ whales arrive to breed. Tours depart from Santa Bárbara de Samaná and typically run 3–4 hours; operators like Whale Samana have a strong reputation for responsible tours. While in the area, a trip to El Limón waterfall and the beaches of Las Galeras are well worth adding to the itinerary.
